Our headquarters and refinery operations are located at Balerna near Chiasso
in south-eastern Switzerland near the Italian border.
The plant is located close to the main motorway network. We are a quarter hour
drive from Lugano to the north, and half an hour from Milan in Italy to the south. The closest international airport is Milan Malpensa, a 30
minute drive from the plant.
Valcambi's precious metals plant is situated on a 33 hectare site. Utilising
state-of-the-art technology the entire operation incorporates the most stringent
security monitoring and quality control systems.
Our precious metals refinery is one of the largest such facilities in the
world. Annual refining capacity is recorded at around 1'400 tonnes of precious metals. We
deliver a complete range of services, from refining through to the manufacture
of cast and minted bars, assaying, the development of specialist semi-finished
products for the watch industry, as well as design and manufacture of coins,
medals, blanks and complex alloys.
Valcambi is an independent company, employing 165 people at its plant and
offices. An important contributor to our ongoing success is the stability of
our workforce. Many of our employees have worked for the company for over 15
