In Switzerland the assaying, trading and melting of precious metals are strictly
controlled and monitored by the Central Office of Precious Metal Control (a
department in the Federal Department of Finance in Bern ). In addition, the
Valcambi Laboratory is independently monitored and checked by the Swiss Federal
Office of Metrology (Metas) for compliance with ISO/CEI 17025.
Valcambi was the first refinery to be accredited with all relevant Swiss licenses
in assay, trading and melting of precious metals from the Central Office of
Precious Metals Control. Valcambi has two certified accredited assayers who
report to the Central Office, thereby ensuring their independence. The Central
Office undertakes periodic checks on all aspects of our laboratory, ensuring
we keep to the highest standards.
In 1995 Valcambi was the first the refinery laboratory to receive Accreditation
of its Assay Laboratory from the Swiss Federal Office of Metrology (Metas).
The accreditation corresponds to ISO/CEI 17025 standards for 20 different analysis
methods. In addition since 1996 Valcambi has been certified according to SN
EN ISO 9001 for all its business activities. These accreditations are constantly
monitored internally and formally audited annually.
